Soil Resource Plans
A Soil Resource Plan is a soil management document to be used by contractors. It sets out clear guidance on the methods of recovering, storing and re-using soils whilst minimising a loss in quality and function. The document normally contains the following elements:
- plans showing topsoil types, and the areas where topsoil is to be stripped;
- location of topsoil stockpiles;
- schedule of soil volumes;
- pre-treatment of vegetation;
- procedures and equipment for stripping and stockpiling each type of topsoil/subsoil;
- re-use of each topsoil type;
- appropriate topsoil depths;
- techniques in subsoil preparation and topsoil cultivations;
- methods of topsoil placement;
- soil amelioration (including fertiliser and compost application rates);
